Exploring The Old Abandoned Farmland
I was driving a few days ago and saw a parking area for a hiking trail, and on the side of the trail was what was left of the farmland of an old house that has likely been gone for the past hundred years or so. While the house is completely gone, and all that remains is a stone foundation and cellar, surprisingly, the woods haven't reclaimed the fields, and a grass field with one large old tree still standing right at the site of the old cellar, and was likely at one point in front of the old house that at one point stood there. I looked on the edge of the field, and noticed old 1800's rusty farm equipment laying in the woods. There were also many stone walls that at one point probably kept livestock from escaping. I heard birds chirping from the trees, saw deer tracks through the muddy soft ground near the bottom of the sloping hillside that leads away from the old foundation. Around the foundation were many thorns, and in front of the foundation were daffodils could of potentially been the descendants of the daffodils planted there when the house still stood, as they were only present around the site of where the old house used to have stood. Overall, I had fun at this location, and enjoyed seeing what happens when nature reclaims land that used to be maintained by humans. As a history buff too, it was interesting seeing these old structures that used to be inhabited by humans in the past.
The field, and the large tree situated at the edge of the old foundation and cellar.
